Stormi

stormi.jpeg

Pitbull, 2 years, Female

Stormi is a sweet girl. She loves to cuddle and give tons of kisses. She loves going on long walk and is a very active dog. She has no problem interacting people, however, she can be reactive to other dogs/pets. She has separation anxiety and still needs some dedicated house and leash training. Stormi loves having her own space so crate training is not needed.

Ginny

ginny.jpeg

Shepherd/Ridgeback/Pitbull Mix, 1 years, Female

Ginny is a little over a year old (birthday likely in June 2020) and was adopted from a shelter.  She is an incredibly loyal, quirky, and funny dog. She's very, very smart, playful, and has become pretty good with directions/commands. Unfortunately, she is very territorial of her space and protective of her person. Essentially, people cannot come over to the house and get too close to her owner. Once her owner is not with her and she's not in the house, she does really well with other people and dogs- just not in her territory. She even goes to doggy daycare and does well. She has been working with a trainer in the home, and she has gotten a little better with people, but it will be a long process. She needs someone who is experienced with territorial dogs and has the patience to see she improves over time. She also suffers from separation anxiety and takes gabapentin to reduce the effects. Her separation anxiety has gotten much better.

Puppies

IMG_2890.jpg

Chihuahua Mix, 3 months, Female & Male

These puppies are 3 months old and haven't been named. They are bonded, both very playful, affectionate and eager when around other dogs and around people. The female tends to be timid around strangers but opens up quickly. They are not potty trained yet; they have been outside in a fenced yard but they still enjoy being inside from time to time.  Puppy to the left: female; puppy to the right: male.

Shumba

shumba.jpg

Shepperd/Staffordshire Mix, 1 year old, Female

Shumba is a total goofball, lots of energy, and loves being outside roaming off leash, her doggie friends, tugging anything with you, and above all, belly rubs. She is fully house trained and knows basic commands and several fun tricks. Unfortunately her anxiety and reactivity have made life very stressful for her in the urban environment where her owners live. While consistent training and some behavioral medication have helped, it's clear that she is being molded into a situation that won't let her be her happiest, and a home with more privacy, more space, and very patient parents will be much better for her. She will do best in a home with a large fenced in yard, good privacy from neighbors or other sights/sounds, perhaps in a rural area, where she will not need to be walked on-leash. Above all, she will need a patient, loving home! She is hesitant about strangers but warms up pretty quickly. Older kids may be ok, and better in a household without cats, though she is getting used to her owner's cat. She is great with most dogs!

Fergal

fergal.jpg

Cat, 1.5 years, Male

Fergal has a very sweet personality even though he's had a bit of a rough start in life. We're not sure of his origins but we know he was adopted from a rescue in VA, then given to someone in NC, then somehow ended up in the woods for a few weeks trying to survive on his own before ending up in his current family's yard. They worked to build his trust enough to catch him and get him vet-checked to see if he was chipped (he was). Sadly, his owners didn't want him back, so his current family's been trying to integrate him into their household but it's not working out due to his high energy. Fergal wants to play play play and doesn't respect the boundaries of the other cats in the home. He loves toys and runs around the house like crazy. We feel he would be best in a home with no small children, elderly folks, or other cats as he has a very rough and tumble play style. He may do well with a dog that can tolerate being pounced on and wrestled with several times a day but we can't say for sure, so out of caution, we suggest only adults would be best for now.

Fergal

styx.jpg

Cat, 6 months, Female

Styx showed up on her human's back deck a month ago, skin and bones but very friendly. Since then she's eaten her way back to good health and has enjoyed living mostly indoors. She has a sweet and easygoing disposition. She loves lap time and sleeping at the foot of the bed...and also can be playful. She's been scanned for a chip, had a checkup, and a rabies vaccine.
